Ruminations of the Easily Amused for 3/9/2015

9 March 2015 at 12:55:38 PM

Yukky day, but I'm glad it's raining. I had put out a lot of bluebonnet seeds back in November and expect they will be glorious! Had a great display the year before the Big Drought but most were wiped out that year. Anyway, happy for whatever, but it does make me to hunker in for the day. Got some barley malt syrup, which I understand to be essential for making great bagels, so going to try that today, with salmon for dinner. I have a wonderful bread machine which I used to, up until this last year, use only for making full loaves of bread. I've found myself using the dough cycle almost exclusively (plus then I can shape whatever bread I'm making into nice shapes without trying to wrest a loaf off those 2 paddles-oh, you all know what I mean that have bread machines. I can't ever seem to pry the bread off the paddles easily after baking, but since the real issue to me with baking bread is all that kneading and rising stuff, the dough cycle handles at least part of it. Then I usually have the oven warm enough to put in whatever the shapes are to rise, with a timer, and it's EASY!!!!) Also found a recipe for something I have never eaten but sounds delish- Roast Beef on Weck.

Have now taken to calling the 3 equine animals "the boys". Big beautiful horse, older donkey and young donkey. The horse and older donkey pretty much want to hang around the barn AND I DON"T BLAME THEM since the weather has been so bad for the last couple of weeks. Last night I called out to the young one and he, and the 2 girl cows, came over to eat some treats. I thought I might see the horse and donkey today but given it's raining, bet they keep on hanging out at the barn.

Back to looking at RSS feeds for the day. Years ago I used feedburner for RSS, but it's long been gone. I updated the RSS feed file today and the links, and am going to again look at getting RSS feeds from other favorites to display in a sidebar. Started to do this some months back but got sidetracked. A rainy day is the perfect day for coding.
