Please tell us why you are glad you voted for Obama twice.  I thought George W. Bush was bad, but Obama may even be worse than him.  Both Bush and Obama are down for 2 of the worst Presidents we have ever had, and especially back to back Presidents.

You may feel that way about President Obama, but I don't, although I agree with you about George Bush. I thoroughly enjoyed the SOTU, even though it really does seem more of a yearly play. I no longer, as I did when I was a wide eyed novice at watching politics, expect any president to do what I want, or to keep all campaign promises. Here's some of the things I liked that he said.

"At this moment -- with a growing economy, shrinking deficits, bustling industry, and booming energy production -- we have risen from recession freer to write our own future than any other nation on Earth," he said.

"It's now up to us to choose who we want to be over the next fifteen years, and for decades to come," he said. "Will we accept an economy where only a few of us do spectacularly well? Or will we commit ourselves to an economy that generates rising incomes and chances for everyone who makes the effort?"

Also enjoyed this.

Later, when Obama said he had no campaigns left to run and some Republicans sarcastically clapped, the President shot back: "I know, 'cause I won both of them."

I haven't made up my mind about his college tax breaks. I'd far rather see our education system fixed at the local/state levels. For example, Texas's standing in good education is low in the US, but I believe it's in part because of too much testing and entities like SBOE trying to put mythical crap or political idealogy into textbooks. Do like the tax hikes on the rich. Do like his military comments about ISIS, don't like it that cybersecurity still involves intrusive over-reaching spying on Americans. Do like it that we as a country are moving past the freeze with Cuba, also that he wants to bring fast internet for everyone, Wonder how ANY president or Congress will fix the free trade issue (I still agree with Ross Perot that NAFTA was a terrible action)

Anyway, overall, I've been happy with him as president and I'm definitely glad Mitt Romney The Vulture is not.

He's a liar in his SOTU address and he left out issues that are very important, like the jobs he promised and helping the middle class and he has broken those promises.  Obama is the worst.

Obama is a charlatan and too many people still buy into him.

By the way, I am not using Fox News in my links because even though I agree a lot at times with what Fox says, I know you don't like Fox.  I try not to use it on this site.

The SOTU was for show and little else.  He has added too much of our tax dollars for welfare and he promised a change in how the programs like Medicaid are managed.  There is a lot of fraud in the welfare programs and also once people get on welfare that don't want to get a job because they earn more money collecting welfare than they would with a job.

Where's the incentives to get people off welfare and become productive citizens?

In addition, Obama and Holder have added more to racism than anyone else, especially re: the Ferguson and Staten Island incidents and in addition, a democrat staple George Soros provided $500,000 to incite the blacks to create issues during the protesting.  Soros gave $33 million in 1 year to activists to create unrest and Holder and Obama support his efforts to create havoc.

The Obama administration wants to spur civil unrest.  It is outrageous that Americans allow this to continue.  I stand by that Obama has been one of the worst President we ever had.

I'm sorry that Obama still has you suckered.  You and others who still support him need to learn the truth, but I'm not taking on that job.  If you folks haven't learned by now, there's not much I'm going to teach you.

Agree with you pstern...

@ Salon...Btw, you never responded what Obama DID to make you feel that he is a good President.  You only stated what you like that he said.  Obama says a lot of things.  He's an orator and that's what has gotten him by most of his life.  But what has he done?

@Peter. I've posted plenty of times about what I like about President Obama and feel no need to defend him here. I was posting, above, about the SOTU address, which I enjoyed.

So be it.  I'm sorry you still feel that way.  In truth he has done little to help the majority of Americans.  His SOTU speech was all fluff and no substance.

I'm not sorry that you don't feel the same way as me. We just have different opinions.

It's not a question of "feeling the same way" as I do, it's a question of seeing Obama for what he really is.

@Peter-Just referencing you- "I'm sorry you feel that way". As I said, I'm sorry you don't feel the same way as me.I don't agree that your feelings always constitute truth but I respect that you don't care for Obama. I watch SOTU mostly for the theatrics, compared to other news on a daily basis.

It's interesting to me that the official GOP website edited President's Obama's SOTU to leave out part of what he said about climate change. When called on it, a spokesman said that was *inadvertent*. Yuh-huh

And, I liked when he said the following, because it was an appeal to all members of Congress to move forward even though from a practical standpoint, everyone is not going to march in lockstep

So the question for those of us here tonight is how we, all of us, can better reflect America’s hopes.  I’ve served in Congress with many of you. I know many of you well. There are a lot of good people here, on both sides of the aisle. And many of you have told me that this isn’t what you signed up for -- arguing past each other on cable shows, the constant fundraising, always looking over your shoulder at how the base will react to every decision.

Imagine if we broke out of these tired old patterns. Imagine if we did something different. Understand, a better politics isn’t one where Democrats abandon their agenda or Republicans simply embrace mine. A better politics is one where we appeal to each other’s basic decency instead of our basest fears. A better politics is one where we debate without demonizing each other; where we talk issues and values, and principles and facts, rather than “gotcha” moments, or trivial gaffes, or fake controversies that have nothing to do with people’s daily lives.

At some point in the near future, I'll write precisely what I still agree or disagree with re: President Obama, but this isn't that time, I mentioned the SOTU because I was entertained and enjoyed watching it, even if I personally didn't agree with every single thing he said.
