Ruminations of the Easily Amused for 10/3/2014- Gone Girl Edition- HATED IT!!!

I'm not a Ben Affleck fan, think he's kind of dumb and not a very good actor (and he is NOT Batman... ever) , but I do like Rosamund Pike. I haven't done much reading for awhile but decided reading "Gone Girl" would be good. If it was a good read, I might go see the movie, if not, then the decision ALSO made for the movie. I got it in e-book format about 5 days ago and have been consistently reading it, enjoying it.. There were parts that were so implausible but I was willing to suspend disbelief just to get to the end of the story. UNTIL THE END. HATE THE ENDING. I won't be watching the movie and I dang sure am going to try to suss out the next book I spend time with. There's a Gone Girl Hate Club on Amazon

Reminds me of watching Lost. Hub and I binge watched all the seasons and, even though there were some times when we thought, no way, that cannot happen, we still stuck it out to the end. And then, such a HUGE letdown, all that time WASTED for THAT ENDING???

Wish there was a way to know if, when a lot of people like something, you could press a button and know if you would like it too without spending time and money on it. The danger of reading book reviews is that you can also accidentally read spoilers, and I do want to read books without knowing the endings, particularly in the case of suspense novels.

Still, I’ll go on record saying this: Factoring in the high potential, “Gone Girl” is the worst film I’ve seen this year. It’s the worst film of David Fincher’s career. It may be the worst film of Ben Affleck’s career. And, yes, I’m counting “Gigli.”

P.S. I've also been reading Game of Thrones, and love it, AND have seen alll the episodes before this season. But in that case, I'm wanting to find all the extra story details that may not have been in the teevee version. And, since I've already watched up to this point, there aren't any spoilers in the book.
