Donkeys! One of my friends has some cattle pens and brought them over to make a holding pen for the donkey I plan to get gelded after I get him used to a halter. I spent some time looking up cattle pens and fencelots to see how they're used, how expensive, etc. The particular ones she has have a chain with a piece that fits down into two interlocking sides to hold them together- incredibly easy to put the pieces together. Donkey was not happy, that first day, about being penned in after going to eat but was not unreasonably mad. Left him in there for awhile and then let him out where he immediately made for a cedar tree some distance away. I worked with him yesterday to get him used to going in to the pen and eating and then, on one of the occasions, closed up the pen again for awhile. This morning I'm going to see about going into the pen while he's eating, leaving myself plenty of room to jump away or jump up on the cattle pen sides. It's funny because I hadn't really thought of him as being somewhat introverted ,but maybe it would be better to say that he's cautious. He's sociable but wants to be friendly on his own terms right now.

US bombing of Syria has begun-from Jobsanger
I still wonder if we even have a dog in this fight. Even though the government and the media completely ignore it, this is basically a religious war between two factions of muslims (Sunnis and Shiites). If ISIS and its Sunni allies win, they are certainly not going to be an ally of the United States. And if the Shiites win, it means that Assad will control Syria and Iran will largely control Iraq. And neither of those is likely to be a U.S. ally either.
The truth is that we have no real ally in this religious war. And although the United States is a secular nation, most of the muslim world views us as a christian nation. And too many Arabs on the street are going to view this as just one more christian crusade against the muslim world. The only thing we are assured of doing in this conflict is to create more enemies for this country.
