Ruminations of the Easily Amused August 24 2012-Mitt Romney Still Unlikeable

Well, no wonder. He STILL doesn't want anyone to know what he paid in taxes and how he hid his money. Gawker got a document dump from Bain.

7 Takeaways from Gawker's Bain/Romney dump Here's one.

4. The documents raise questions about some of Romney’s statements. Last month, he told an interviewer that the reason Bain Capital bases so many of its investment funds in the Cayman Islands is to “allow foreign investors to invest in U.S. enterprises and not be subject to taxes outside of their own jurisdiction.” The documents show that the Bain Capital funds also utilize a number of financial dodges that enable some of their U.S.-based investors to avoid, defer, or reduce taxes owed on the income generated by the funds’ underlying assets. These tactics include setting up shell corporations, often called “alternative investment vehicles” or “blocker corporations,” wherein investors can shield their money, and carrying out transactions called “equity swaps,” which some experts regard as scheme to minimize taxes on dividend payments.

Again, there is nothing illegal about these tactics, and some of them help prevent tax-exempt U.S. investors, such as charitable endowments, from paying taxes they don’t need to pay. But the documents suggest that Romney wasn’t telling the whole truth in suggesting the only reason firms like Bain Capital use the Cayman Islands is to help foreign investors. C’mon Mitt. You can do better than that.

Romney used *blockers* to avoid paying taxes.

Romney's Bain account showcases deals for the wealthy only.

Oops. Romney's NEWEST excuse for why he doesn't want to show his taxes-doesn't want to talk about the tithing money he gives to the Mormon church,

"Our church doesn’t publish how much people have given," Romney tells Parade magazine in an edition due out Sunday. "This is done entirely privately. One of the downsides of releasing one’s financial information is that this is now all public, but we had never intended our contributions to be known. It’s a very personal thing between ourselves and our commitment to our God and to our church."

Except that his WIFE already did. And, what did he think? He's running for PRESIDENT, for gosh sakes, stay home if you just want to be a private billionnaire.

Romney Little Face

Hey, Tea Party, Mitt Romney calling you all Ferretts in the Dishwasher is not an insult. He LIKES Ferretts.

Romney does NOT want to talk about abortion. .. or Bain... or heck, anything he might have to give an answer about.

What the heck happened to the Republican party?

Even if I personally would not choose to go forward with an abortion, I would never support stripping other Americans of that choice, especially in cases of rape and incest. Because although I believe that life begins at conception, I understand that some people don't believe that and/or that some people might, given certain circumstances, choose to terminate that early life at a point when it is not even remotely human.

And the same goes for religious choices, sexuality choices, the teaching of basic science (and religion) in schools, and other social choices.

In short, I support freedom.

The Republicans do not.

The Republicans support increasing the size and scope of government to such an extent that it strips away freedom and limits the choices Americans can make because some people believe these choices are "just wrong."

Republican party of NO were obstructionists to President Obama's jobs plans

* David Obey, then-chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, met with his GOP counterpart, Jerry Lewis, to explain what Democrats had in mind for the stimulus and ask what Republicans wanted to include. “Jerry’s response was: ‘I’m sorry, but leadership tells us we can’t play,’” Obey told me. “Exact quote: ‘We can’t play.’ What they said right from the get-go was: It doesn’t matter what the hell you do, we ain’t going to help you. We’re going to stand on the sidelines and bitch.”

Lewis blames Obey and the Democrats for the committee’s turn toward extreme partisanship, but he doesn’t deny that GOP leaders made a decision not to play. “The leadership decided there was no play to be had,” he said. Republicans recognized that after Obama’s big promises about bipartisanship, they could break those promises by refusing to cooperate. In the words of Congressman Tom Cole, a deputy Republican whip: “We wanted the talking point: ‘The only thing bipartisan was the opposition.’”
