Laughing at Mitt Romney O Day - *I Can Use a White Board* Edition - August 17 2012

Ronney's whiteboard.

What the video-it will make you laugh.

Wonk is a meaningless word

Romney divided up a whiteboard into two columns and two rows, showing how current seniors and the next generation of seniors would be affected under his and President Obama's proposals. He did this because Democrats are attacking him for Ryan's old plan to turn Medicare into a voucher program and his new plan to make the vouchers an option. Democrats have also screamed bloody murder over Romney's attacks that Obama will cut $716 billion from Medicare, when Ryan's plan keeps those cuts, and the cuts affect how much providers are paid, not what health services old folks receive. But Romney's counter-counter-counter attack did not address those attacks. Instead, he reiterated his claim about the $716 billion. As for the next generation of seniors? Under Obama, Romney wrote "bankrupt." Under Romney, Romney wrote "solvent." Well, that explains everything.

ABC's The Note

Whatever hand-written message Romney was trying to get across on Medicare got largely obscured by his decision to wade deeper into the debate over his tax returns during the question-and-answer session that followed his lecture.

But none of what the presumptive Republican nominee said yesterday in South Carolina really matters all that much. The moment Romney allowed the campaign to shift, almost fully, to the issue of Medicare — as opposed to the economy, unemployment and rising gas prices — was the moment he started losing the week.

Haha, here's Obama's White board-it's Mitt's Medicare Whiteboard-CORRECTED!

Looks like the Romney advisors are already looking for a reason why Romney will lose.. and they BLAME IT ON Angry White Woman Ann .

Band, Silversunpickups sent Romney a cease and desist letter

“We don’t like people going behind our backs, using our music without asking, and we don’t like the Romney campaign.

Romney the whiner-how come, if he likes clean campaigns so much, he doesn't tell the truth about his own ads? (Related:)

David Axelrod said Sunday on “Meet the Press” that the ad “doesn’t cross the line” and then pivoted to declare that Romney “ought to be ashamed of himself” for running a false ad about Obama’s welfare policy.

It’s true that Romney is in a weak position to be complaining that the other side has been mean and nasty. He won the nomination by eviscerating his rivals with negative ads and accusations, and an ad his team aired last week that falsely claimed Obama was gutting welfare-to-work requirements injected racial politics into the campaign.

Also, many of the things Romney complains about are not unusual. Asked Wednesday morning by CBS News to explain why he thinks Obama has brought hatred into the campaign, Romney mentioned “the divisiveness based upon income, age, ethnicity and so forth. It’s designed to bring a sense of enmity and jealousy and anger.” But that’s standard fare for a presidential campaign.

Ecomonists to Romney-That's not what we say, knock it off.

What ever happened to Seamus, Romney's dog that rode on the roof? Asylum in Canada?

Romney's Welfare talk misses reality

There are the 45 million Americans on Medicare. Most are seniors who don’t hold jobs. Some have plenty of money. Yet the vast majority of their health insurance is paid by taxpayers. Does that constitute freeloading?

Are farm subsidies, tax grants for businesses, adoption subsidies and tax deductions for depreciating corporate jets also “welfare”? After all, anyone taking advantage of these federal revenue-reducing opportunities is burdening the rest of us.

Romney should also provide more details about how the cash welfare program should work. In Iowa, recipients not only have to be parents, they have to show they are working toward supporting themselves.

“I actually believe we should have increasing levels of work requirements” for recipients, Romney told Fox News. He should define exactly how much more work he wants someone to do for $334 a month.

The real issue, of course, is the one Romney isn’t talking about: People who get off welfare don’t escape poverty. They simply move from the despised category of “welfare recipient” to the comparatively saintly and much larger category of the “working poor” in this country.
