Sid Miller is locking down his Facebook page this morning. Nobody but fawning fans for him, and, although he said he like challenges, he really doesn't. O to be a Texas legislator that only wants to hear from those that support him and his misogynist, intrusive style of Republican Big Government.
Anyway, I just happened to get a screen grab of his post from February 6th regarding HB15 (here's a link to the engrossed version of the bill from the Texas Lege). He said
"judge Sparks dismissed the lawsuiot against my hb15 sonagram bill. Entire bill is set free and now has no challenges to it".
and then he included the link to the Austin American Statesman article -So what does Judge Sparks say in that article?
Sparks wrote that he remained convinced that the law violates the U.S. Constitution by infringing on doctor’s free speech rights and by impairing the exercise of their medical judgment.
Sparks wrote that he continues to believe that the Texas law is not a reasonable regulation of medicine.
“This court believes Texas overstepped its legitimate authority when it substituted its medical judgment for that of doctors, and imposed a uniform method of treatment for all patients, rather than allowing physicians to make medically appropriate, case-by-case determinations,” Sparks wrote.
“The act requires doctors to attempt to discourage their patients from obtaining abortions, in a variety of ways, even in cases where the doctors have determined that an abortion is, for any number of reasons, the best medical option,”
Ooops. Didn't Miller even read the article? Didn't he realize that Judge Sparks believes what he and Rick Perry are doing is unconstitutional???
Here's the link to Judge Sparks' order
I suppose Miller was concerned both that the flurry of people who have seen him lampooned in Doonesbury this week might actually read the article and find out that Sparks is NOT on Miller's side... and say so.. In any event, he apparently is banning people from commenting, including me.
Sid Miller still has a post up talking about that court decision (saw it today, March 15 2012, post is from January) Here's a couple of comments. by 2:00 pm the comments are gone, only the Oh, Sid You're So Great. Because , you know, Sid doesn't want to hear anything that doesn't reinforce his own instrusive bill.
