1. Who spent the Governor’s campaign money at La-Te-Da that day?
2. Is it normal from someone from the campaign to conduct a “business meeting” at a Key West, gay hotel and drag show venue? What was the nature of the meeting?
3. As I read Texas law, out-of state-travel is supposed to be designated by checking the box in the entry and completing an accompanying Schedule T form. Can you provide to me the Schedule T form as originally filed? If not, can you please explain its absence?
4. Where was Governor Perry when the money was spent on this “business meeting?”
5. Could you provide me with the Governor’s schedule for two weeks before and after the date of the expenditure?
6. On what did Governor Perry, or a representative of his campaign, spend $78.26 at the club – an admission ticket, alcohol or something else?
Hey! I saw that movie! It was The Birdcage! Here's one of the performers receiving fans after the show.
"In case you are not familiar, the La Te Da is a well-known destination for gay travelers with a popular cabaret that features drag show acts," as well as hosting gay pride day events, Rogers wrote. He also noted that La Te Da's current entertainment calendar includes "Not Your Grandma's Pole Dancing."
"This campaign expense seems to clash with the governor's comments toward gay and lesbian Americans — including his most recent assertion that Texas has a better economy because it doesn't grant gays and lesbians marriage equality," Rogers wrote.
The reference was to this Perry comment in Temple back in August: "We're creating more jobs than any other state in the nation. ... Would you rather live in a state like this, or in a state where a man can marry a man?"
Rogers wanted to know who spent "the governor's campaign money" at La Te Da and "is it normal for someone from the campaign to conduct a ‘business meeting' at a Key West gay hotel and drag show venue?"
The Perry campaign said it was Anita who went there. What *business* was she conducting under the auspices of the Perry campaign? Do we know what Rick Perry's schedule was on that day?
Anita Perry, Texas' first lady, had lunch at La Te Da, which, it turns out, is a hotel with several facilities, including a well-reviewed restaurant.
"She was there for a personal visit and she had a business meeting with supporters and constituents after that," said Perry spokesman Mark Miner.
So then, it's ANITA, according to the Perry campaign, who had no problem dining out at a place known for Drag Queens. Because There Are No Other Places To Eat in Key West Florida except places that cater to homosexuals and cross-dressing.
Isn't this sort of the Hooter's excuse, that I Must Eat At Hooters Because They Are the Only Restaurant That Serves Chicken Wings? Oh, Right, the Girls Hired Must Have Big Boobies aka Hooters But That Is Not Why I Eat There.
Right. Think the people who are planning to come to The Response are going to go down to Montrose Ave afterwards and hit up the gay bars? (Well, being Perry backers, maybe they might consider it)
It really may be that there is nothing to the persistent gay rumours about Rick Perry. After all, a liberal Perry did decide that he's fine with New York passing gay marriage.(the hypocrisy of this political panderer is breathtaking; if you're gay reading this don't think it means that Texas is a liberal state. Rick Perry just wants to talk out of both sides of the room he's wedged into) It also may be nothing that his campaign decided to use money to eat at a place where the draw is being a drag cabaret. But shouldn't Rick Perry have to answer the questions Mike Rogers posed, shouldn't we see HIS schedule for that day, ask what business IF it was Anita she had at that location out of all others, and shouldn't he have to answer this at a Q&A where he has to face reporters and answer questions?
