New Years Resolutions for 2011

26 December 2010 at 11:29:52 AM

I really love this time of year. I always feel that it's the time for taking stock of one's life and deciding what one will do in the future, whether it's the same old same old or something new and exciting.

for me, I have some definite things to do in mind.

First and foremost, I have some creative activities that I've been putting off doing for the last year because of watching politics so closely. I had already made up my mind that I was going to use this last year as a push to see more politically-related materials, such as audio, online. I think there is more to do in that vein but it's up to someone else to expend that type of energy. Also will be up to someone else to decide to do political video/audio-I continue to believe it's really important, but I want to spend that time other ways, although I may continue to put up easily -gotten audio, minutes, etc. No matter what, the archives will remain and anyone is still encouraged to post.

I want to do other video this year, more in the story telling vein. There are a lot of very interesting stories in this county, about how life used to be, and I want to try to capture those. I have some right now about moonshine that I love.

My main creative outlet is going to be in the realm of woodworking. I've been wanting to make toys for some time. I"m sure my first efforts won't be stellar but will only improve the more I try. I have set January 1st the date to begin spending time with the craft (might actually be January 2nd if I have a big ole hangover).

I also have a wooden recorder that I have not practiced enough with. In my mind, I see myself sitting on the porch at twilight playing Irish songs and have most of the keys learned but not all the notes.

I have a state parks pass and would like to gradually visit all the states parks, either for day hikes or overnight camping. Next up on my list is going to be Mineral Wells.

I have the usual resolutions about exercising on bicycles, running or walking more, eating healthy, etc. But those are stock resolutions that are always added. the others before this represent a complete shift in energies and creativity.
