Heh. Make A Wish Foundation Nor the Little Girl/Family Knew Jerry Jacene Was Coming to Glen Rose

At least he got a free hotel room while he was here!

More on Jacene from earlier detailing his financial troubles, the money he owes and judgments against him.

via Matthew Lane of Kingsport TN newspaper, these are signs from today in front of Jacene's business.

I had to blow up that one sign because he says he just up and decided to come down on his own and that neither Make a Wish foundation NOR the little girl's family  knew he was coming.

Ok, so he drove 23+ hours from Glendive, Montana but never alerted Make-a-Wish or the family he was coming to Texas to essentially take a sick child to some museums and parks not even anywhere near where she lives?  What if the girl was in the hospital indefinitely or couldn't otherwise participate?   What then, drive back to Glendive 23 hours away?  "Mommy, there's a strange man on the phone that wants to make my wish!"  Maybe impetuousness took over and he's just too embarassed to admit he was doing stuff down here without their knowlege.  That's the only logical thing I can figure out assuming there wasn't an alternative reason he came down here and the M-a-W stuff was in fact arranged AFTER.   Kathryn Jones did say the M-a-W stuff was very rush, rush, last minute.

So how did the discussion at Plano M-a-W go after Jerry called from GR?   " Hurry Hurry, we just got a call from a paleontologist in Glen Rose, get her down there! "

The pertinent thing from all of this is that this commercial development  (cause that's what it is!) is hinged on the emotional crux of "we just gotta do this for Joanna!"

This is how this development is (and has been) going to be sold to the City of Glen Rose.  Remember kids, if you strip away the discovery story then what you have is a paleo-developer Jerry Jacene and Larry Smith attempting to get that property developed a 2nd time on the tax payer's dime.  It's as simple as that.

Regarding the History of all this we are to believe that:

1.  Larry Smith never knew of these NEW tracks before hand (everyone knows there are older tracks elsewhere on the property) and Nick Patel the hotel manager, who knows Smith, never let him know about the NEW tracks.   Nick Patel basically quipped to Tom Dill (DPS program director) that he knew of the tracks (before Jerry's "discovery").  Patel played dumb in the newspaper story.  How did Patel know?  Ummmm, possibly because I told his desk person (daughter?) the day I was getting photographs on January 13, 2010.    But he could have known through others also but certainly the desk person had no clue and was surpised to learn they had dinosaur tracks behind their Hotel.  Keep in mind the Director of the Visitor's Bureau (who handles visitor type things like this development) also knew of the tracks since January 2010.

2.  A self-titled paleontologist "discovers" the tracks on an pilgrimage to make a wish of a girl wanting to "spend a day with a paleontologist".  Jerry Jacene decided to spend 4 to 5 days away from his ranch time to basically take a sick girl to the zoo.  Her parent's could not do that in Dallas?   Joanna's wish no doubt meant she actually wanted to DO paleontology stuff like dig for dinosaurs in Montana or work on bones in a lab and certainly NOT just BE in the presence (cue heavenly music) of a "Paleontologist" who in the end just takes her to the zoo and maybe the dinosaur valley park.  Next thing she knows she's being wisked off to Glen Rose, having something named for her, given a plaque by the City, and being pawed by complete strangers.  I feel she's just being used here.

I'm honestly baffled that Plano M-A-W had no clue what so ever about the active kid-friendly dinosaur dig in Arlington (Arlington Archosaur Site) which does NOT require a tiring 3-hour drive to Glen Rose. Of course M-A-W themselves (or even Joanna's family) had NO clue Jerry was coming down from Montana. What?!

3.
In less than two weeks between his "discovery" (Oct. 16/17?) and the newspaper story (Oct. 30) that Jacene convinced the land owner Larry Smith to let him dig up his land and develop the site. Remember Larry Smith (supposedly) hadn't even known Jerry two weeks and there's already a deal worked out! If Larry is this trusting of complete strangers then I have a bridge in Manhattan I'd like to sell him. :-)

Larry Smith did said in the newspaper story "this was meant to be". It's amazing how the paths of these two men crossed so fortuitously.

If there has been fraud here why does this matter if the goal is good?

The Joanna's Tracks Park will no doubt become a perpetual promotion device for Jacene and his image-benefactor Make-A-Wish also.  They enjoy a symbiotic relationship.  Well, I personally don't care what happens out there anymore. But, believe it or not, I actually support some kind of development out there just so long as the science is the primary focus and not promotion or aggrandizement of anyone or anything. Since this on private land they can do whatever they want though.

If this whole discovery story has been an emotional fraud all along to get people on board to develop Larry's land then the Citizens should at least know or ask hard questions themselves because it's their Right considering tax dollars may be in play here. Even the editor of the newspaper admitted to me on the phone there were "raised eyebrows" about his "discovery" story at their office so I'm not the only suspicous (or crazy) one.
