FREE THINKING !
Good news club or Bad news club

In our country it really is not freedom from religion.  I lived in Irving Tx they built a huge Mosque near an elementary school.  The question you have to ask yourself are they going to have a good news club at that elementary school. This is an influence on there minds like it or not.  Grace Community Church is a large part of the good news club.  They are strong into TULIP aka = PREDESTINATION which i do not believe in there version of predestination nor there strong black and white view of the world. Having said this parents should be able to guide there children, if 80% of what they say is good for you and helps you, keep it and discard the rest.  IT'S UP TO PARENT'S TO TEACH OUR KID'S TO BE FREE THINKERS AND NOT SHEEP !!!!!

So i say let them stay, let other religions have the same rights, we can be our own thought police. It's when we are not allowed to speak and think when it becomes a problem.     And it takes two sides listening, but that takes an open mind on both sides.  That is usually where the problems lies.  Seeing the big picture.  We always' seem to focus on the little picture and not see that big Lion sitting right beside you. Your to focused on the dirty little roach running up the wall.

NOT TO BE PREACHING JUST SOMETHING TO CONSIDER.

I"m in agreement with you about much of what you say. The Good News Club is like a Sunday School class held directly in the schools after school hours and no one is forced to have their children attend-in fact, children must have a signed permission slip from parents. I certainly wouldn't characterize the GNC as being like a *dirty little roach* but do think that saying you are non-denominational when you aren't should be pointed out. Would you, for example, send your children to the GNC if you knew that Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses were teaching it? GNC apparently doesn't want Methodists, Catholics, or Pentecostalists teaching the classes. Since you are in favor of free thinking, as am I, what if you child has a question that runs contrary to what the GNC teaches? Perhaps that you teach yourself or that is taught at your church on Sunday? I'm willing to bet that the instructor doesn't answer any questions except those that are narrowly focused on the lesson plans that are required to be taught by the organization. So, given that the entire goal is to teach young children to be evangelists, what happens when that child encounters someone from other religions or persuasions, even within the same main faith? Will he or she attempt to answer the difficulties?

I'm not suggesing that the GNC shouldn't be in existence. I think that churches, synagogues, mosques, etc are entitled to have instructional classes to pass on their tenets and values to children. So the question, to me, has never been "should they stay" but "should I send my child to an after school Sunday School class that is exclusionary of some other christian beliefs and faiths at the instructor level". I don't know that I disagree with using the elementary school as a place to meet, as long as it is made clear to  the understanding of children that it's an *after-school* elective club. And of course then it would be required of school officials that if another religious club of ANY faith, including Mormons, Jews, Moslems, etc wanted to hold a club after school which purpose was to evangelize children and train them to evangelize others, that they permit those to do so as well. (As it happens, only some subsets of religion are evangelical so the odds of that happening are slim.).
