All summer long I had lantana that never bloomed, even though it was partly in the shade during the day. IT IS BLOOMING NOW and so is the gorgeous butterfly bush I had this summer. Even though I mulched around them all, they had such a time in the heat. All the crepe myrtles are still in bloom, the weather is hot but cooler, at least, than it's been, so it's a great September. I did have such plans to mow the yard, which is quite a bit, and the other day the DR trimmer head fell out! It isn't that it looks hard to put it back together but maybe would involve taking apart more of the trimmer, so I may go take it to get repaired. Sigh. I was on such a roll, too!
I may have mentioned this but I had some chicks that I got a few months ago that I introduced into the chicken house a few weeks ago. They would NOT come out of the chicken house. I also had 9 roosters and one of the hens got quite injured from their activity. I separated her out and a friend, Marilyn, came by and got the roosters. What a relief! And not merely to me, but do you know the very next day every one of those younger chicks came out of the house into the chicken yard.
I don't feel like doing much inside this week. Today is the hearing for the 2 more reactors at Comanche Peak, assuming that the government gets loans for Luminant. Judge Maynard said the other day at the Tommy Davis/Chalk Mountain hearing that most of the people that show up to protest are not from the county. Well, I have before and I'm from this county. I also know of some others who don't want the nuclear power plant but don't necessarily want to speak up in public. The time before when they had a hearing, all of the people who were boosters spoke first, regardless of when they had signed up on the sheet, and those who were against spoke after. So all the town and county officials went one by one up to the lecturn to tell their support. I believe it would have been better to take whoever was on the list in the order that they signed in, which would have mixed pro vs con, and also not favored public officials over ordinary citizens. Anyway, I'm debating whether I even want to go record it, because it's a Dog N Pony show, and I can express my argument against it in written format. My main reason for being against it, as readers know, is that this is another form of corporate welfare, FOR a company KKR, that hopes to beef up their investment so they can turn around and sell it off. Who finances it? Not investors, because nuclear power is risky-that's why KKR/Luminant has to go to the government and ask for those huge taxpayer backed loans, for a design that isn't proven, in an area where water use is at a premium. I understand why Somervell County government wants it here, because it is a tax cash cow. Anyway, if you do go, feel free to put here in a comment what you thought about it, pro or con. Maybe I'll go... right now, again, the weather is lovely, I have a smoothie and a DR Trimmer to repair and that seems more important than patiently waiting in the audience for all the pro-nuclear power officials to glad hand each other for an hour before getting to those who don't want them but don't necessarily live in the county.
This seems right. I didn't understand and still don't, why Obama went right along with a bunch of the practices Bush did in office. In fact, even during the election season last time, the Democratic party warned people that they were NOT going to spend time investigating what went on before. But I think they should have.
A reminder that Israel is not a co-signatory on the NPT.
This cracked me up. I got a stringer of solar lights to put on the arch I just put together and there are some instructions on the cord. (From China).

So pathetic-who would throw acid in her own face? This woman.

Texas Education going broke but aren't you glad we paid $129,000 for Perry to go on a trip to Asia with his wife? What the fool does Perry need to go to Asia on a bridge-building mission for? More like "In case I decide to run for President, I;ll have been to some foreign countries".
Here's an interesting idea about all those political ads we're going to see if we watch the teevee or hear if we listen ot the radio.
