NOTE: WE are not the Gasland people, merely telling people about it. There are some contact links in the 4th paragraph, including email, if you want to contact the people behind Gasland.

Dear Friends,

Big news: GASLAND is coming to a theater near you, and we want you to be a part of it.

As our HBO run comes to a close, we face our biggest challenge: Opening the film in movie theaters across the nation for longer runs. We don't have a huge company backing the run and we don't have a huge advertising budget, but we have the will to get the film out there and we have you.  We will need your support in getting the word out.

As I have toured around the US, I have been moved and inspired like never before in my life. So many amazing people, so many compelling stories. From Pennsylvania, to New York City, to Michigan, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Texas, Arkansas, West Virginia, and almost everywhere in between, the incredible character of America has shown its face to me. More than anything I want to keep getting out there with you to make a change.

So along with the GASLAND team, I invite you and your organization to participate and host a screening event at a theater near you.

A preliminary schedule of dates and cities will be published later this week.  Please let us know if you'd like to host a screening and if you have other theaters we should consider. We will send you a hosting guide to assist in making the screening a success.  We are striving to provide a forum for the discussion, but it can't happen without you.  Please write to ellen@gaslandthemovie.com to express interest and support.

I will be attending as many screenings in as many cities as humanly possible to do Q&As, speak with local legislatures, and further document peoples' stories.

The Frac Act is gaining support and moratorium bills are being written in many states, but we have our work cut out for us. We know that if we can continue to have big crowds come out to events, we will be successful in creating change.

Thanks so much for being a part of this.  In the words of John Fenton of Wyoming, "You're not alone if this is happening to you." Come out, find friends, spread the word and let's continue to work together.

My very best, with thanks,

Josh Fox and the GASLAND team

I am a resident at Foulkeways Community at Gwynedd, PA. We have a Current Issues discussion group that is very interested in environmental affairs. We have an auditorium where we show movies for the residents and guests. We would be very interested in showing this "Gaslands" movie.

Please let us know what arrangements could be made to accomplish this.

You can reach me at the email address above, or call me at (215) 283-7327

Hello, my name is Ben Hinmon, I am the Assistant Director of the Seventh Generation Program at the Elijah Elk Cultural Center of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan.  While flipping through HBO one evening I happened on the Gasland film and was tranfixed to the screen by the image of a gentleman lighting his kitchen faucet on fire.  As I sat through the rest of the program I was angered to find their were no regulatory or oversight measure in place to protect our groundwater.  As Anishinabe (Native American) people we have a simple philosophy, "Take only what you need and leave the Mother Earth as you found her."

Anishinabe people share a special relationship with the Earth and acknowledge that all life comes from her.  At the core of our belief system is the fundamental understanding that water is the lifeblood of all things and whatever happens to the Earth happens to its children.  These are not complicated beliefs, but fundamental understandings that we are all stewards of the Earth and share a common responsibility to maintain a healthy balance between what we need and what we take.  Our community is concerned over efforts to begin "Fracking" in the State of Michigan and the dire ecological effects this will have on the Great Lakes, the single largest fresh water source in North America.

We are interested in previewing Gasland at our Fall Feast and have pre-ordered five (5) copies but they will not be available until December 14, 2010.  Is ther a way we could obtain a copy of the film to be previewed at our Fall Feast on Friday, November 12, 2010.  I apologize for the lateness of this request but have been searching local resources to no successful conclusion.  The saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe has emerged as a powerful political advocate on ecological issues, such as clean coal generators, EPA Super Fund Clean-up Sites and a host of other issues.  In order to get our community behind this issue we need to educate them about the devastating ecological affects already experienced in other state.

Please let me know if anyone can help with previewing "Gasland" to our community.

Just to be clear. I think it's wonderful, Ben, that you want to do this. The email for the Gasland people is in the article above. Please contact them and I know they will get you where you need to be.
