For some background, see here. Basically, Somervell County Commissioners Court voted to subsidize the 501a doctor's org as part of shortfalls the Somervell County Hospital Authority incurs. Commissioners are not doing this directly, but as part of what SCHA asks for when they have a shortfall and want help making it up. On the level of the 501a doctors, the agreement is above. What happens is that the doctors provide a profit and loss statement, and if they request money for operating expenses, they do a Request for OSA (Operational Support Assistance). That is what is showing, on the first link, on the 2nd page.
Glen Rose Medical Foundation
History of Intercompany Transfers
The total amount transferred to the 501a doctors for the time period so far in 2010 is 178,000.
IF then the SCHA has a shortfall that they must ask the commissioners to make up, as they have done regularly, this number would account for part of why they're short. (Example of this from March 2010)
(Incidentally, why is this listed as Glen Rose Medical Foundation, I thought that was dissolved by now.)
Well here's you another shortfall...I have medical insurance through where i work. Took my spouse to GRMC to do physical therapy, guess what a GRMC employee told me... GRMC DOES NOT ACCEPT THIS INSURANCE... and the Hospital that I work for and I quote"They tried to buy us out and we told them we were not for sale. Because all they were doing was going around buying out hospitals." I told her that they did not BUY out any hospital/hospitals all the hospitals that were in the same group went under 1 name. Today I had to drive all the way to Cleburne to the ER due to an allergic reaction to something I had eaten because GRMC does not take my insurance. What does that tell you..it's sad to have insurance and a hospital not accept it..
Don't blame GRMC. Every health insurance corporation makes deals with various hospitals and calls these facilities 'in-network'. Every other hospital or clinic is considered to be 'out-of-network' and the patient will be penalized (not reimbursed) for using this kind of facility. If you happen to work for a health care facility, that facility will be the one(s) of choice, like it or not.
Don't blame GRMC, blame Wall Street. If we had been able to pass a Universal Health Care law, this would not be a problem.
By the way, they DID buy out a number of hospitals that are now under one name and one very large corporation.
