We here have long wondered why the bid process was so secretive and flawed. For example, the City of Glen Rose did not list a time and date for when the bids would be publicly opened. When we asked about this, we were told that the city supervisor opened them in his office!

The particular bid that was finally voted on last night had to be redone several times because the process was not lawful.

As it turns out, there was only one bidder, Jimmy Gosdin, who, despite saying he was never going to bid again after the last screwup, decided to again.

We applaud the mayor and city council for following the law and opening the bids in open session on an announced date and time. We don't particularly care who wins the bid but believe that all have the chance to bid and know that their offers are being handled in an above board manner. Who knows? Next time there might be more than one bidder!
