Ruminations of the Easily Amused for July 21 2010

Redid the site with a fresher look-gave me a chance not only to change up the pages cosmetically, but also alter some of the slower performance code chunks. For example, some time back I had added a *share with facebook* button for the comments; it was incredibly slow and not only slow to load itself but the comment box wouldn't load until after it got that facebook script. I'm not even ON facebook anymore but I do remember how easy it is to add a link and it's not necessary to have that button. Gone. Pretty much the same items as before are on here, just rearranged. Added a widget to search Yelp fr local restaurants, hotels, places, etc -be sure to add your own comments about places around here. Also took some of the links to local places that were formerly in the left hand column and made them more prominent. Seems to me that the pages load much faster, and I got rid of the dino that was a *load* image.

Still clipping and uploading video from the weekend's City of  Glen Rose retreat, including some small clips to highlight items of interest to me.

Working on other unrelated artsy-stuff today. Incidentally, the other day I was out at Margaret Drake, who was one of the participants in the Ramble. She has a lovely home with a great view, and a wonderful arts studio. When I get a chance, probably later this week, I'm going to clip some pics of an arts meeting I attended where the sculptor made a clay bust from a sitting subject.

Don't have much time to read the news this morning, but had to put in another play on Old Spice, this time from a student at Brigham Young.
