As you read this, I want to make clear that this is NOT about swimming at Oakdale Park during regular hours, but this refers to a private party renting out the park, including the pool, for a family reunion.

I was listening to Luis citizen comment at the City of Glen Rose the other day.  His residence is right there by Oakdale Park and Big Rocks. He said he was awakened late at night by a lot of noise going in in Oakdale Park, saw people swimming in the pool but no lifeguard on duty. Mayor Miller said "As far as the swimming pool that evening, it had been pre-approved. It was a family reunion at at Mays, actually, the people who owned it previously and it was their family reunion and they called in and approved... " Luis-"With no lifeguard, nobody".  Miller- "Well, Scott and Judy were there and Scott and Judy are certified, they taught swimming lessons for a long time and they ... we did not have one of our people there and they take responsibillity for it and they are certified.."

But were Scott and Judy ON DUTY as lifeguards? Had they signed a paper released the City of Glen Rose from all responsiblity should an accident occur? Is this how it happens with everyone with a family reunion that wants to stay there? If one of anyone's family is a lifeguard and merely on the premises, this is okay?

The City of Glen Rose has now purchased Oakdale Park and needs to be SERIOUS about operating it as a business. That includes making sure, as they would with ANYONE, no favoritism, that a lifeguard is on duty OR no one gets to go in the pool.
