from the Somervell County Commissioners Court on April 12, 2010.

Rough Transcript: Mike Dooley giving his report. Mike Ford asked me some questions this last week about the AJRA and the expansion for hte RVs. Maynard-if we're going to get into the Rvs, we need to wait for item 20. Dooley- Ford asked him if he realized his operating costs are rising substantially and revenues are dropping off too.. mainly because of the economy... facing some lean times. Workign with stall projects-bigger shows for less money. Moved money into today into repair and maintenance type projects. Aware that costs are rising substantially. Ford-how long has it been since we polled like facilities to see what their fee schedule is . Dooley-probably five or six years before we did that-not so matter what we charge but the way we charge. Ford-might be time for us to run another poll on that, especially before we get into budget season. One of my concerns, not a concern, we as a court have made decisions that bear on the profitability of the Expo ... helpful to know how we compare with fee schedules.. Dooley-back to 1993 with a comprehensive market analysis. Benchmark year for us. Maynard-I've probably been as responsible as anybody to get you to do what I call lost-cause leaders, costs the county money but it brought business into the community, because of hte pressure on the county budget we may have to start looking at what's more profitable for the county and not for bringing the people into town. No one seems to realize that we're spending $600,000 a year to bring all this business into the community. And I've always been against that.. times have changed.. cut cut cut. No disrespect to anybody but the businesses and the city taxes are who benefits, we get a small revenue for shows and ampitheatre. I don't know how long we can substain to be the big supporter of tourism. .. not the cost, it's maintaining it over the years. All of our facitlities are getting fairly aged... roofs, haven't gone out to build new projects.

Wonder if he was talking about this?
