Tom Huckabee, who filmed part of his movie "Carried Away" at Cherokee Manor in Glen Rose, interviewed in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Carried Away, cast with all Dallas-Fort Worth actors, was made on a shoestring budget of $275,000. Huckabee, who deferred his and some of his crew's salaries to defray the film's cost, took only 27 days to shoot it.

After grabbing the "best narrative feature" prize at the Oxford (Mississippi) Film Festival, Carried Away has its Texas and Southwest premiere Friday at the Dallas International Film Festival. We caught up with him recently.

Who Will be Quarterback at UNT? Derek Thompson in article.

The athleticism edge goes to Thompson without question. He was a five-sport athlete at Glen Rose, where he ran track and played basketball, tennis and baseball in addition to lighting up the scoreboards on Friday nights.

In Des Moines IA a Republican official wants to do away with registered nurses, librarians and guidance counselors in school.

A school didn't want to allow a lesbian to bring her girlfriend to the prom, so they cancelled prom. Constance McMillen sued, so the school district held the prom. EXCEPT that there was another prom that everybody else went to.  7 people showed up.

At a hearing on a preliminary injunction filed by the ACLU, Senior U.S. District Judge Glen H. Davidson ruled that the district had violated McMillen’s First Amendment rights but that it shouldn’t be forced to sponsor a prom since a group of parents had already agreed to hold an event that would be “open to all IAHS students.”

Last Monday night, those parents announced they would no longer host that prom. On Tuesday afternoon, school district attorney Michele Floyd said a private prom would be held at the Fulton Country Club, although the exact sponsorship of that event remains a mystery.

Kristy Bennett, legal director for the ACLU of Mississippi, said her organization was still gathering details about what happened Friday night to determine whether they would ask Davidson for sanctions.

Texas state sales tax is 1.5 BILLION dollars behind for this year.

The $1.46 billion collected in March, which reflect sales made in February, was 7.8 percent less than the amount brougt during the same month a year ago.
