Poor Poor Chet Edwards and His Pesky Inconsiderate Constituents Who Are Actually Calling Him To Express An Opinion

It's so much nicer when our elected officials don't have to bother with hearing from those they represent, right?  And guess what, there are Some In Our District who want him to vote WITH the Democrats and Vote Yes. But we should keep that to ourselves lest Chet say we're inconsiderate of his No vote.

Rep. Chet Edwards of Waco, a prime target for House Republicans this fall who has dug in as a "no" vote despite a personal plea last week from President Barack Obama, is getting flooded with calls prompted by Organizing for America – the offshoot of the president's 2008 campaign organization.

He's not happy about it.

"When they know I'm voting no, for them to have people call our base and discourage base Democratic voters shows a lack of political consideration," Edwards said Wednesday evening.

I think his next public comments should be about how bad free speech is, since exercising it might cause some Not To Vote For Chet.

A day earlier, he told Politico that "it's clear to me they could care less about my political future" – a statement that on its face sounded like he had re-election concerns in mind when deciding how to vote.

Yup. And you can bet, Mr Edwards, that comments like these make me even care less than before.

P.S. Maybe, just maybe the DEMOCRATS who elected you to office want you to VOTE FOR HEALTH CARE along with the other Democrats and you don't want some of the other *base Democratic voters* to think about the fact that you so often vote with Republicans against your own party's platform.

Boo-Hoo.
