Labs must be really intelligent dogs, as a breed. Day 2 of me getting pup to quit chewing.. on me. And it's still working. I think he must see me as the Alpha Female now as he's definitely settled down.

Who profits from digital medical records? Interesting discussion of stimulus funds that are tied to specific use and vendors, with Medicare and Medicaid penalties over time for those who do not comply.

The stimulus established a carrot-and-stick approach to lure providers into the electronic age. Physician practices could be paid up to $44,000 over five years, and hospitals could get a maximum of $15.9 million to install systems that comply with meaningful use rules.

The government would penalize providers that don't participate, reducing their Medicare and Medicaid payments by 1 percent, beginning in 2015. In later years, the penalty grows to 3 percent.

"The penalties ... are far more significant than the incentives," said H. Stephen Lieber, president and CEO of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.

Hunting feral hogs at night in Coryell County

In the report, Mitchell told the court there was a count of 775 feral hogs with reported damages totaling $131,640.

Mitchell said the damages exceed the quoted dollar amount because not everything is reported.

County Judge John Firth said the feral hog population might be higher than what was cited because of new hogs born in the last year.

I just finished watching 3 of the Planet of the Apes movies. But who knew?
