Comanche Peak Is NOT ON SHORTLIST for DOE Funding- Luminant Crying In Its Beer

The FW Star-Telegram article says that EFH Young has said that if they didn't get funding (ie, TAX-PAYER FUNDED CORPORATE WELFARE LOANS) they woudln't have the money themselves to build the reactors.

Two new reactors at the Comanche Peak nuclear power plant didn’t make the U.S. Department of Energy’s tentative shortlist of projects in line for federal loan guarantees, which could be key to obtaining financing for such multibillion-dollar ventures.

Pay close attention when you read this article. Because, for ANY of the nuclear power plant projects, guess what happens if the company building them defaults on the loan? You know, the loan that WE are providing them through our taxes through DOE? Oh...

Under the guarantees, the federal government would assume debt obligations in the event of default.

LEt's just say this again. IF Luminant/Energy Futures Holding DEFAULTED ON THEIR LOAN THAT THEY MIGHT GET (although now they are next in line) who would pay? Oh, Right Us. So we pay for their loan IF they get it and we pay for their loan if they ditch it.

But they're not on the primary list.
