At least for me, perhaps not from the other posters on the site. However, I have some other pressing, urgent matters that will be taking my full attention for awhile, so you may not see anything fresh from me for awhile. When I started this blog several years ago (in 2005), I did it as a way to express some very strong political feelings I had about the Bush administration and those that went along with him. Over time the blog evolved, at least for me, into more state and then local matters, which I continue to care about. The blog itself, however, may turn out to metamorphise into something else, perhaps even with a new name; I\'m giving it careful consideration.
In the meantime, may be like a quiet stream off the main current.
Update: Meh! Less of a hiatus than I just don\'t have time for a bit. But I can\'t resist some stuff so will post when I get a chance-like the 4b tax meeting last night. Part of my time problem this week and next is that, around the time my father was ill and then passed away, hub had been making a committment for a video project except that, although he shot most of the footage, I\'m the one that edits and puts togeher. There is three days worth of footage to go through and drill down. And I have to get \'er done. It\'s just different than me watching and recording, say, a city council meeting that lasts around an hour or two, and then posting an audio or some video clips; that takes some time but not a tremendous amount because a. I already know because I was there what I thought was significant, at least to me, and b. it\'s not editing it down to create an entirely new compilation. I think I\'ll feel energized when I get this other project done or at least mostly whipped into a manageable shape.
Also did think about changing the name. For one thing, I\'m kind of amazed (and a little amused) at how many people on the Twitter side seem to think that this blog is kin to a beauty salon. I\'ve been watching for the last month or so as a whole bunch of hair care twitterers decided to *follow* me. I haven\'t discouraged them as it\'s an honest mistake but it makes me realize that a lot of people do not know the definition of salon as
1. a drawing room or reception room in a large house
2. an assemly of guests in such a rom, esp, an assembly, common during the 17th and 18th centuries, consisting of the leaders in society, art, politics, etc.
3. a hall or place used for the exhibition for works of art.
and only then the 4th definition of a salon which STILL is not specific to hair-
4. a shop, business, or department of a store offering a specific product, or service, esp one catering to a fashionable clientele.
Here\'s from the American Heritage dictrionary
A periodic gathering of persons noted in literature, philosophy, the fine arts or similar areas, held at one person\'s home. Salons thrived in the Enlightenment.
So, you see, that\'s what this blog is. A gathering of people, some of whom are speaking and commenting, and some of whom are attending, on a regular basis, perhaps daily, at the Somervell County Salon home where we are discussing interesting points of view and news. In french, salon means "reception room", in italian, "large hall", but more generally, a reception room.
Therefore, I have thought about it, not going to change the name, because that\'s what this blog is, it\'s the essence.
