I have Never SEEN Hail like this- Marble Falls, Texas March 2009

I was down in Austin today and stopped last night at my aunt and uncle's home in Marble Falls. They told me a harrowing tale of how, earlier that day, they had been driving through a hail storm, and were actually in fear that the size of the hail was going to blow out the windshield of the car. The hail took out windows in both their house and most of the neighbors on their street. Anyway, here's a couple of pictures of how huge the hail was-TENNIS BALL SIZE.

The amazing thing to me about the pic, above, is how much all that hail looks like snow or a big field of flowers. Usually, when it hails around here, it hails a bit and quickly melts. Not so in the case above.

Update: here's some more pics and video I found. LISTEN to that hail hitting this guy's roof.

Here's what the Burnett Bulletin said about it.

The most serious damage seemed concentrated in the Marble Falls, Meadowlakes and Cottonwood Shores-Horseshoe Bay area.

In Cottonwood Shores numerous homes had broken western-facing windows. Even car windows were seen smashed and rows of mailboxes were gaping open, beaten by half-dollar-size hail.

In Horseshoe Bay, high winds tore part of the roof off St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Chapel

I see that even the venerated Bluebonnet Cafe lost part of its neon sign.

And another link to a video news segement showing the broken windows, pecan trees lose leaves.
